We believe that you do your best learning when you are passionate, engaged and committed. That’s why Burlington College has always enabled students to create individualized majors unique to their own interest. Whether it is furthering your undergraduate studies in a particular discipline, or expanding your educational horizon and job opportunities by going in a new direction, Burlington College can work with you to create an Individualized Masters Degree that pulls from our areas of expertise in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Our low residency program includes a week-long residency here in Burlington, Vermont, where you will work with an academic advisor in collaboration with faculty in your chosen field of study to craft a specialized degree plan designed to achieve your unique academic, professional and personal goals. Together you will identify appropriate areas of inquiry, learning resources, and research paths; discuss and plan internships and community resources to enrich your educational experiences; and attend informative sessions to ensure you have the necessary skills and resources to support your education. Work at the residency prepares you to embark upon your guided independent studies. The Individualized Master of Arts degree plan culminates in a nine-credit capstone project undertaken over two semesters that demonstrates your achievement in your field of study and fulfillment of the program’s learning goals. You will attend a second residency at the end of your studies, and present your capstone project to your faculty, staff and peers.
