Program Description: The Master of Public Policy (MPP) degree prepares students to be leaders who design, manage, and advocate for better policy solutions. It is a professional discipline that seeks to solve public problems through policy analysis and design, program and project management, and community and public advocacy. The field brings together political science, economics, statistics, management, and other social science disciplines to shape policies and programs at the local, national, and international levels. As analysts, managers, and leaders, MPP graduates work with quantitative and qualitative information and data to develop, assess, and evaluate alternative approaches to current and emerging issues. Their careers are in a variety of public service fields and in all levels of government, in nonprofit organizations and NGOs, and in the private sector. Accreditation: NASPAA Eligibility Requirements: -A four-year bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. university or foreign equivalent -Competence in college-level algebra (including facility with functional notations; algebraic manipulation of polynomials, logs, and exponentials; and graphic representation of equations) -Completed an introductory course in microeconomics with grade of B or better (a macroeconomics class or single semester course in general economics does not fulfill this requirement) -Computer competency in MS Excel and Word -English language competence. -Completion of an undergraduate course in political science that analyzes political institutions (state and local, national, comparative, or international) and presents basic concepts in political analysis is strongly recommended # of Credits Required: 45
