Review: Online Programs, RN to Master of Science, Nursing
Program Description: The RN to MSN option is designed for registered nurses with an associate degree in nursing and at least two years of experience. This provides nurses the opportunity to earn a MSN degree without earning a bachelor's degree. Graduates from the RN to Master of Science in Nursing program will be able to: Express a fundamental understanding of the problems of contemporary health and illness; Directly provide and manage competent care for individuals, families, and groups who have simple to complex health care needs; and collaborate with other groups in shaping health policies that affect both individual and community health. Students must complete 18 credit hours of baccalaureate level nursing courses and 3 credit hours of professional communication. A 3.0 GPA must be maintained for each of these courses. Upon completion of these courses, students will fill out a graduate application and apply to our MSN program. Those who are not able to achieve a 3.0 in each of the nursing courses, but do have a 2.5 cumulative GPA will be allowed to complete the Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) sequence and then apply separately to the Masters Degree in Nursing program. Students will be able to complete their Masters Degree with 21 undergraduate credits and 36 graduate credits, thus accelerating the attainment of an advanced practice degree in Nursing Management and Organizational Leadership, Case Management, Nursing Education, or Nursing Informatics. The RN to MSN courses are open for enrollment once a month. Accreditation: American Sentinel University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC).
