Program Description: Programs within the department of Biological Sciences are designed to provide a stepping stone into teaching and research positions, medical product sales, professional careers as medical doctors, and environmental specialists. The objectives of the program are to provide the student with in-depth knowledge in a chosen area of biology, while also gaining a breadth of knowledge in related disciplines. Practical experiences and communication are also emphasized. The graduate program in biology offers two tracks: Master of Science (Plan A, thesis option) Cell and Molecular Biology at 30 credits. Master of Arts (Plan B, non-thesis option) Cell and Molecular Biology at 36 credits. # of Credits Required: 30-36 International Student Requirements: In addition to submitting an application, application fee, GRE/GMAT scores, and 3 letters of recommendation, international students must also submit scores from a language admission exam and financial documentation stating that the student has $17,000 USD in support of graduate study. Qualifying language admission exams and required scores are as follows: TOEFL: 213 on the computer exam, 550 on the paper exam or 79 on the iBT with no subscore under 17; Michigan Placement Test: 80; IELTS: 6.5
