Program Description: The Food Science Graduate Program at Purdue University is interdepartmental and one of the best in the country. The Food Science Department is located in a new building containing the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities including an excellent Pilot Plant. Both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are offered in three major areas of specialization:Food Chemistry (Molecular structure and functionality, Molecular techniques, Enzymology, Phytochemicals, Toxicology) Food Microbiology (Safety, Nanotechnology, Molecular biology) Food Processing (Engineering, Modeling, On-line sensors, Packaging, Sensory)Our Centers of excellence are: Food Safety Engineering Center Center for Enhancing Foods to Protect Health Whistler Center for Carbohydrate Research Computer Integrated Food Manufacturing Center Botanicals Center The Program will provide outstanding graduate education in both theory and practice of Food Science. Accreditation: Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools International Student Requirements: •Undergraduate Cumulative Grade Point Average: 3.0 or equivalent required •Graduate Record Examination (GRE): Minimum Score Required: Verbal 400, Quantitative 500, Analytical 4.0 •TOEFL for Non-Native English Speakers: Minimum Score Required: greater than or equal to 575 paper-based total or greater than or equal to 233 computer-based total •TWE for Non-Native English Speakers: Required – minimum score of greater than or equal to 4.0 •Resume and Purpose Statement •Three letters of recommendation •Official Transcripts – (Photocopies or attested copies will not be accepted) oTwo sets in the language of instruction and oTwo sets translated in English •Two copies of B.
