Program Description: PEMM seeks to train the next generation of scientists and physician-scientists to engage in genomic, proteomic, cellular, and systems biology research for the purpose of translating this knowledge into disease treatment and prevention. PEMM is a degree granting program that encompasses five broad disciplines (ôthemesö): Cancer Biology & Therapeutics; Molecular Pharmacology, Neuroscience; Toxicology & Therapeutics; Systems Biology; and Vascular Biology. The Program is interdepartmental, consisting of students and faculty from the departments of Pharmacology/Toxicology, Physiology, Medicine, and Psychological and Brain Sciences. The curriculum for PEMM offers broad training in fundamental concepts of human biology at both the cell and organism levels, while also offering specific instruction in the diverse areas encompassed by the umbrella program.
