Program Description: World-Class Training for Immunologists Our program offers rigorous coursework and practical training in some of the world’s most outstanding immunology laboratories. Our top-notch faculty’s extensive experience in teaching and expertise in all areas of immunology provides the student a well-rounded immunology training experience and preparedness for future post-graduate career path in immunology. Students in the Immunobiology Graduate Program have access to outstanding core-facilities including state-of-the-art flow cytometry and cell sorting, 2-photon imaging, gene targeting and transgenic mouse core, bioinformatics core, gene expression core,pluripotent stem cell facility, laser capture microdissection core, viral vector core, and many others. All PhD students accepted to the program receive full tuition remission, a nationally competitive stipend and a health insurance plan. Our program seeks first-class student applicants with outstanding undergraduate training. Ideal candidates have training in biological sciences, and preferably have research experience. MS Program The Immunobiology Graduate Program also offers full-time and part-time MS programs. These advanced degrees are offered to prepare students for productive careers in academic institutions, industry and government in the expanding field of immunology. Both MS tracks require core coursework in Immunology, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology and Biochemistry. The full-time MS track is a thesis based research track, while the part-time MS track is a comprehensive literature review based track. Unfortunately, no programmatic stipend or tuition support is available for MS students. Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation Our scientists and physicians work collaboratively to conduct innovative laboratory and clinical research to improve care for children, to investigate the outcomes of treatments, to study health care systems and to train the next generation of investigators. Research Facilities Our Facilities House Cutting-Edge Technology Cincinnati Children’s is one of the world’s largest centers devoted to pediatric medical research. We provide 1 million square feet of research laboratory space to investigators working to improve child health, with plans under way to build an additional 300,000 square feet. To support innovation, we have established a vast array of core services that provide investigators access to cutting-edge technology. Our capabilities include sophisticated biomedical informatics, expertise in developing transgenic mouse models, unique cleanroom facilities for viral vector development and cell manipulation, a new pluripotent stem cell facility, high-throughput DNA analysis, advanced pathology services and more. Accreditation: The Immunobiology Graduate Program and the University of Cincinnati are accredited through The Higher Learning Commission which is one of two commission members of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), which is one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. The Higher Learning Commission accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region. Eligibility Requirements: Qualified applicants should meet the following requirements: •A baccalaureate degree (or master’s) from an accredited college or university •Scores from the general test of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
